New Zealand's first ultra cool, postmodern brewers of leftfield ales. Specialists in all styles.
Pot Kettle Black is our multi-award winning 'Black IPA' (that some call a 'Hoppy Porter'). The different names convey the fact that this beer is a contradiction of styles: fresh and hoppy, yet dark and rich. Most importantly it is mindbendingly delicious and a complete original. Like all Yeastie Boys beer is is painstakingly crafted by people who love beer., then conditioned to optimum ripeness, before making its way into a bottle and then to your hands. Now take the next step and enjoy with thoughtful consideration.
Winter 2009 sees the return of Yeastie Boys much loved debut beer - New Zealand's original 'Black IPA'. This year's vintage is built upon the same malt base as the original but has fired up the 'chocolate and orange character' with more NZ Cascade hops and a zesty fistful (or 10) of imported Styrian Goldings. At 6.0%abv and 50ibu it is rich, hoppy and way too drinkable.

"It's a tough no-nonsense drop with a malty finish that makes you sense your haemoglobin levels rising by the mouthful. Vampires might drink this as a socially acceptable draught. It just tastes like it's beneficial. Just what the good doctor ordered – if you had a particularly good one who was not averse to prescribing alcohol, that is." - Kate Blackhurst, www.crouchinggiraffe.blogspot.com [link]
"Pot Kettle Black is not a rich, dark and warming ale or a fresh, hoppy beer – it's both." - Denise Garland, My Winter Escape on Girls Drink Beer Too.
"Don't wait too long to try this fine beer or you may miss out." - Neil Miller, The Porter's Daughter's Kettle calls the Pot Black on The Malthouse blog.
"Sex for the mouth" - Chris Jackson, Local Designer on our Yeastie Boys Swill Communication blog.
